About

Welcome to Harvest

Maybe you’ve been to “that” church. Most of us have. You know the type of church we’re talking about. Everyone is dressed in a three-piece suit, the pastor drones on and on about nothing that applies to your life, and you leave feeling beat up and discouraged, knowing that you will never live up to what you’re supposed to be.

Harvest Church is not that church. Each service, you will experience contemporary and powerful worship as well as hear a practical message that will encourage you and leave you feeling empowered to fulfill your God given destiny. You will meet new people who don’t expect you to be perfect. In fact, we don’t even allow any perfect people to come here, but we love each other in spite of ourselves. We’re casual and comfortable, and you’ll find more jeans and flip-flops than suits and ties.

Meet Our Pastors

Kevin and Adrienne Cooley are the senior pastors of Harvest Church. They have been married since 1993 and have two children, Gavin and Garrison. Kevin and Adrienne have a vision to see the people of Mobile encounter the love and grace of God. Their dream has always been to lead a church that will bring a harvest for the Kingdom.

Kevin has an engaging teaching style that mixes humor, inspiration, and personal stories. He challenges people from all walks of life in their personal faith to achieve the dreams God has for their life. He is the author of several books, including The Chariot Chaser. Kevin is passionate about impacting those who are hurting around the world. He is the founder of Embassy of Hope, which is changing India for Jesus!

Adrienne loves to enjoy life and laughs often! She’s a pastor, teacher, author, blogger, and the founder of Happy Anyway. Her goal is to help women find their happy. This inspired her to write the book and launch Happy Small Groups in churches throughout the United States.

Our Values

No perfect people allowed

We are the judgement free zone. The planet fitness of churches. We are all uniquely screwed up in our own special ways but God loves us enough to not leave us there! We are all working to become the best version of ourselves we can be.

Judge not, that you be not judged.
Matthew 7:1

Join the fun! Join the family!

You belong! We are a family who celebrates life and each other’s differences and strengths. We are better together. We celebrate life change and try to kick off as many parties in heaven as possible by leading people to Christ. How do we do this? Know Him and make Him known. With family comes accountability, trust, and humility.

I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.
Luke 15:7

Love is our language. Kindness is our accent.

Love always trumps everything. Offense and strife are not tolerated. We love diversity and hate division. You can talk to me about anything but you cannot “talk about me” to anyone. We embrace a culture of critique. We reject a culture of criticism. A soft answer turns away wrath.

So he answered and said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,” and, “your neighbor as yourself.” And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.”
Luke 10:27

Anything, everything, or nothing at all.

Attitude is everything. Coachability is a must. Enthusiasm is expected. We value a culture of critique and refuse to be offended. Offense brings divisiveness and we will not tolerate strife in the smallest amounts. We believe you are called to lead, follow, or get out of the way. This is God’s business and we are going to be about! We invite anyone who is willing to be about it with us!

Whatever you do, work at it wholeheartedly (enthusiastically) as though you were doing it for the Lord and not merely for people.
Colossians 3:23

Our Beliefs

Scriptures

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, is infallible, and that its authority is ultimate, final and eternal. The Bible is the source of all doctrine, instruction, correction, and reproof. It is God’s revelation to man.

Godhead

Our God is one, but is eternally existent in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, co-equal in power and glory. We believe God is a Spirit, infinite, eternal, and unchangeable in His being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness and truth, and in whom all things have their source, support, and end.

Jesus

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, that He is the Son of God; we believe in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His atoning death as our substitute, in His bodily resurrection, and in His ascension to the right hand of the Father.

Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is a divine person and proceeds forth from both the Father and the Son and He is eternal. The Holy Spirit is personal, separate and distinct from the Father and the Son, He is God, the third person of the Holy Trinity.

We also believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit, empowering and equipping believers for service, with the accompanying supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit. This experience is distinct from and subsequent to the experience of the new birth. The baptism of believers in the Holy Spirit is witnessed by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance.

Man

We believe God created man in His own image, but through Adam’s transgression and fall, sin came into the world. Man sinned and thereby incurred the penalty of death, both physical and spiritual; that all human beings inherit a sinful nature, which results in actual transgression.

Eternal Life

We believe the Bible teaches that salvation is by grace, a free gift of God to all those who believe in Christ. Those who receive Christ by faith have their sins forgiven and become children of God, a new creation in Christ Jesus.

Salvation

Salvation is a free gift from God; no one can add anything to the completed work of Christ to receive it. It is received by faith and faith alone. Man is justified by faith in the redeeming blood of Jesus Christ, resulting in a supernatural work of the new birth.

Water Baptism

We believe that baptism in water is by immersion, is a direct commandment of our Lord and is for believers only. The ordinance is a symbol of the Christian’s identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection, and is a public confession of the new believer’s faith in Christ.

Sanctification

We believe the Bible teaches that without holiness, no man shall see the Lord. We believe in the doctrine of sanctification as a definite, yet progressive, work of grace, commencing at the time of the new birth and continuing until the rapture of the church when we will receive a glorified body. Sanctification is an act of separation from that which is evil, and of dedication to God.

Healing

We believe divine healing is an integral part of the Gospel. Deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement and is the privilege of all believers. Healing is for physical ills of the human body and is wrought by the power of God through the prayer of faith and the laying on of hands. It is provided for in the atonement of Christ, and it is the privilege of every member of the church today.

Resurrection

We believe in the rapture of the church, which the Bible calls the blessed hope of the believer. It involves the resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in Christ and their translation together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord. His coming is imminent. When He comes for the church, “The dead shall rise first; then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air”.

Hell

We believe that all men who reject Christ and do not conform to the plan of God for man will pay the eternal death penalty for sin, will be resurrected from the dead to immortality, will be judged at the great white throne of judgment and will be punished with everlasting damnation in the lake of fire. The one who physically dies in his sins without Christ is hopelessly and eternally lost in the lake of fire; and therefore has no further opportunity of hearing the Gospel or for repentance. We believe hell is a literal place reserved for Satan and his cohorts, but some people choose to go there by rejecting Jesus or because of believers’ neglect of the Great Commission.

Satan

We believe that the devil exists, and he is the real enemy of Christians.

Church

We believe the one true church is the whole company of those who have been redeemed by Jesus Christ and regenerated by the Holy Spirit; that the local church on earth should take it’s character from this conception of the church and, therefore, that the new birth and personal confession of Christ are essentials of church membership. The true church is made of all those individuals who have put their trust in Christ as their Savior; it is not merely the attending of church or having a name on the membership list that makes one a true member of Christ’s true church. Only the transforming work of the Holy Spirit in the heart of the repentant sinner qualifies one for membership in the true body of Christ.

Church Cont.

The primary mission of the church is

  1. To be an agency of God for evangelizing the world and enforcing Satan’s defeat.
  2. To be a corporate body in which man may worship God
  3. To be a channel of God’s purpose to build a body of saint’s being perfected in the image of His Son.
  4. To live a life of purity and above reproach.

Marriage

We believe marriage was designed by God to be the union of one man and one woman who were naturally born as such. Also, Scripture prohibits the union in marriage between a believer and an unbeliever. Harvest Church ministers will only conduct wedding ceremonies that fall within those guidelines.
